‘Fall’-ing in love!

I woke up with the sweet sound of chirping birds reminding me of my hometown. It sounded so familiar, as though she decided to embark upon this migration with me. Funny thought, I smiled at my crazy imagination and woke up with a positive vibe (thank you little birdie.) For a change I was not stumbling half asleep to the kitchen to prepare my good morning necessity, my cup of tea.

After the tea worked it’s magic I felt a strong realization that it’s a beautiful day and very few such days are left before we all cuddle up in woolens and blankets warm and cozy in front of the fireplace. Let’s make the most of this amazing weather while it lasts… ahhh autumn my favorite of them all, just the perfect blend of warm sun and pleasant breeze. I had a special favoritism for this season since my childhood in Nainital, probably as it beckoned the start of winter vacations that would follow soon. Being a hill station it gets cold this time of the year but the leaves that line Mall road (the main street) and the sunsets are picturesque.

This is my first fall season in the United States and I’m lucky to be in the Carolinas. I was told that people all over the world visit this place to see the fall colors, but as I witness the change I’m truly awestruck by the beauty of nature. Green changing into yellow, orange, red, brown splashes of color between the bright blue skies and fading grass. It’s as though God is preparing for a painting but can’t decide which color to choose from his palette 🙂 We all know, eventually it will all be enveloped by the calm of white winter .

She teaches us various lessons, our Mother Nature, only if we take a break from our racing lives to pay attention.

1) Change is inevitable, nothing and no one in life is permanent.

So make today count. How? that you decide. I will save my suggestion for future posts, but for starters smile and spread smiles.

2) The journey is as beautiful as the destination.

It’s often difficult to enjoy the ride when you are eager to reach the final destination. But, do not keep postponing that moment of joy and satisfaction. Live it while it lasts…… while you last.

3) Every autumn turns into winter, every winter turns into spring.

Here, I don’t mean it in the geographically context. A new day, a fresh beginning is always on the horizon of a cold dark night. Have faith, you maybe midst a long, dark winter in your life but as we already learned change is inevitable 🙂

4) If nothing is permanent, what is it that I can do to at least, be remembered?

Again Mummy Nature demonstrates the answer over and over again, only if we observe. Before turning into a morose brown, depicting the end the leaves shine with flaming shades of color, their last attempt at beautifying the world around them, mission accomplished !

This brings us to the last expected question, what is your mission in life? what legacy will you leave behind? How will the world remember you…. if at all?

Deep stuff right? Guess what… it’s a beautiful day to grab a hot drink, soak in the fresh air and ponder on these thoughts. As the saying goes, (OK well it is not exactly a saying, it’s my sad attempt at a rhyme!) –

“Before the winters get’s cold, and the winds turn dry. Go bask in the sun & have some chai!”

Even if you do not find your answers today, you will definitely ‘fall’ for the receding beauty of autumn like me.
